Sunday was the 19th annual Providence Bridge Pedal Ride in Portland and you couldn’t have asked for a better morning. The ride was 18,000 strong with the Healthy ‘n Fit pediatric weight management program this year being the beneficiary. Healthy ‘n Fit is an 8-week weight management program designed for young people ages 8 to 15 years old. In a fun, active group setting, kids learn about nutrition and physical activity. Registered dietitians and fitness specialists teach kids – together with their parents – about food, weight, exercise and body issues.
I rode with my “team” and we did the 10 bridge/33 mile ride, with the incentive that brunch at Brix Tavern was ahead of us at the finish line.
The Marquam Bridge is my favorite stop on the ride, providing a great view of the downtown Portland skyline. It was early enough in the ride that I still had a smile on my face!
By the finish line the smile was still on my face but it looks like my shirt wasn’t going to last!
August 9, 2015 will be the 20th Annual Ride and it will be part of the inaugural event on Portland’s newest Willamette River bridge: Tilikum Crossing—Bridge of the People. I hope to see you there!
