Organic Dentistry
My inspiration for organic dentistry came from Frank Lloyd Wright’s description of Taliesin West, his winter studio in Scottsdale Arizona. It was built to blend into and compliment the natural beauty of its surroundings. Oral health goals and the provision of care is very similar to this description: provide dental care that blends into and compliments the natural form, function and personal aesthetic goals of the patient.
Our practice is devoted to restoring and enhancing the natural beauty of your smile, using conservative, state-of-the-art procedures that will result in long lasting health.
What Makes a Dental Practice Organic?
To me it is more than the materials used and procedures done; it is the complete consideration of the patient and his/hers dental needs. It is taking in to consideration how we work and practice in providing health care and making a commitment to reduce our environmental impact in doing it. It is a commitment to reduce our environmental footprint. Following are considerations that I have made in my practice of providing dentistry in a more environmentally and socially responsible manner.
My inspiration to build a different practice was based on the consideration of the dental profession as toxic. Providing a healthy environment for staff and patients was a fundamental concern. I examined my professional footprint. I realized I could do things differently, which for me is better care, using environmentally healthy materials and creating a soothing and healing environment.
In keeping with this vision, I referred to the Green Guide for Health Care, a program designed to encourage building healthier healthcare facilities. I have incorporated sustainable materials into my practice along with energy efficient lighting; water purification and conservation systems; a mercury removal filtration system; digital x-rays and intra-oral cameras for patient education.
In order to create an atmosphere that is calm and relaxing, we have incorporated art, music, and casual seating arrangements to allow for social interaction in the reception area. Floral arrangements, aromatic candles, quality soaps and lotions are all part of the esthetic and calming experience.
Our office is located in the core of downtown, on a bus line in south Eugene and within walking distance nearby College Hill.
